BrickaBrack is a multidisciplinary performance ensemble. We develop new projects through our collective imagination and resources, utilizing a range of practices and devising techniques. Our goal is to create live events that are engaging and moving, addressing compelling issues while defying conventional forms.

BrickaBrack generates performances that encompass unique spaces, improvised movement, original music, personal storytelling, and audience interactivity. It is our belief that the best work emerges from trust, generosity, and fun! Founded in the SF Bay in 2012, we’ve been based in New York City since 2015.

Gabriel Grilli

A theatre-maker, director, performer, and teacher, GG's work has been hailed as “stunning” and “visually magnetic.” He founded BrickaBrack in Oakland, CA in 2012. With the company, GG has created and directed The Memory Project, 9 Ways & Means, Lights Across the Field, The Hope Frieze, On the Flip Side, never fall so heavily again, Stalking Christopher Walken, Duck Duck Octopus, and Daffodil.

Amy Nielson
Associate Artistic Director
Amy is in love with the collaborative art of theatre; she seeks places of in-between, where dance, music, theatre, visual and audio arts intersect. With BrickaBrack: The Memory Project, 9 Ways & Means, Lights Across the Field, The Hope Frieze, and On the Flip Side. Amy takes inspiration from such artists as William Forsythe, Pina Bausch, and Robert Wilson. As an original member of the multi-media collective Double Vision, she contributed to many immersive events from Berkeley to Brooklyn to Berlin, including the Lonely Owl... Series, 13 Dreams of the Dying Clairvoyant, and [radical signs of life] (residency at RPI). She still remembers that night in that dive where BrickaBrack was named.
